How to Hide Books in iBooks

SEPTEMBER 6, 2016

Figuring out how to remove books in iBooks?

Unfortunately, in iBooks, the “delete” feature doesn’t work the way “delete” works normally, i.e. eliminates file. It only unloads the contents of the book from your device. The cover of the book stays, and an iCloud download sticker (sort of) is marked in the upper right part to indicate that the book has either been deleted or hasn’t been downloaded yet. One tap on the cover and it will redownload the entire contents of the book right away. It’s as if you haven’t deleted nothing.

But there’s a good news, just like with your apps and music, you can “hide” a book permanently. Meaning, the contents and the cover of the book will disappear, just like how “delete” works the usual way.

Create A Bootable OS X Yosemite USB Installer

DECEMBER 29, 2014

OS X Yosemite is finally here. And if you’re doing a clean install for your upgrade, you’ll need to create a bootable Yosemite USB installer. Below are the simple steps to create one.

Requirements

  • The “Install OS X Yosemite.app” launcher. You can find it in the Applications folder right after you downloaded it from the Mac App Store.
  • A USB Flash Drive that has at least 8 GB of storage.

Formatting the USB Installer Drive

1. Insert the USB Flash Drive to the Mac and open the Disk Utility, then select the USB Flash Drive from the left side list

  1. Click on the “Erase” tab and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) on the Format options then click the “Erase” button and confirm.

  1. Next go to “Partition” tab and under the “Partition Layout” select “1 Partition” on the pulldown menu (from Current)

  1. Under it change the name “UNTITLED1” to “UNTITLED”

  1. Click the “Options” button and select “GUID Partition Table” as the partition scheme and click “OK”.

  1. Click “Apply” and confirm. Then quit Disk Utility.

  1. Turn OFF Background App Refresh

Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and select which Apps you don’t need to refresh on automatic basis.
